Ask Dr. Blair | What should I do if Viagra and Cialis Don't Give Me an Erection for Intercourse?

Viagra and Cialis or not magic pills, unfortunately! The first thing you need to do is to get evaluated by your physician, because erectile dysfunction can be the first sign of underlying medical problems including cardiovascular disease.

Also: all erections come and go! It’s very natural to gain and lose an erection several times during a sexual encounter, so if you’re in your head, try to get out of it and back into your body. Try to not spend so much time focusing directly on your penis (since pressure can give the opposite desired effect), and consider other sexual activities that you may find enjoyable.

If you have performance anxiety around getting and/or maintaining an erection, our “Getting Hard, Made Easy” course might be really helpful. It’s designed to help you re-train your body.
